Hillwalking Courses

Scotland has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Dundee is fortunate to have the Sidlaw hills, the nearby Grampian mountains and Glen Isla, Clover, Doll and Esk. Why not set out and enjoy all the benefits of our hillwalking and navigation courses. Ancrum Outdoor Centre cater for the absolute beginner up to the very experienced who can gain coaching towards achieving National Govern Body awards in hillwalking.  Anyone wishing to book a private party for this activity would require a minimum of 5 people.

Our highly skilled instructors will tailor design routes or expeditions to meet your needs. All equipment can be provided.

Winter Mountaineering

The course aims to give you the skills to move safely and with confidence on snow covered mountains. Topics such as; use of ice axe and crampons, steep kicking, self arrest, avalanche awareness and winter navigation will leave you watching the weather for next chance to get out.

Guided Hill Walks

Are you planning a group walk? Ancrum can offer assistance at all stages from planning through to guiding on the day. We have worked with several charities and groups to plan and guide walking trips to Ben Nevis, Cairngorm and Jocks Road - Glen Clova among others. Give the experts at Ancrum a call to discuss your ideas.

Expeditions

Over the last few years we have run successful trips to Knoydart, Ben Alder and Skye. We have used sea kayaks, mountain bikes and walking to access some of the most remote and beautiful parts of Scotland. All camping and required equipment can be provided. If you have a group of 4 or more people we can run these expeditions on request.

Equipment and Kit Information

Ancrum will provide all necessary first class equipment for this activity which includes boots, waterproofs, fleece, gloves and daysack. We encourage participants to wear their own gear where possible as this may be a more comfortable option.
