Guided Mountaineering Expedition on the Isle of Skye

The Black Cuillin on the Island of Skye is an alpine style rocky ridge; over 11km long consisting of 11 Munro’s including the Inaccessible Pinnacle (Inn Pinn) and over 20 peaks, this ridge is truly the “Scottish Alps”

All our guided trips to Skye are bespoke, so if you have specific objective in mind or have never been to Skye before, your guide will work with you to ensure you get the most out of your trip.

Our guides hold the Mountaineering Instructor Award as a minimum and are highly experienced.

All cost include any specialised equipment required (which will include camping equipment if sleeping out on the ridge) and transport if required, accommodation is not included, but we can offer advice on places to stay.

For those who maybe don’t have a head for heights our guides have plenty of easier options allowing you to get onto the ridge for the stunning views and to tick off some of the peaks.

Or if the vertical world of rock climbing would be more suited, our guides can take you onto some of the classic rock climbs in the mountains or the amazing Skye sea cliffs.

Some possible itineraries to get you thinking:

  • Pinnacle ridge on Sgurr nan Gillean
  • Am Bhasteir and Bhasteir tooth followed by an 30m Abseil
  • The Inn pin – the most iconic peak on Skye
  • Sgurr Alasdair – The highest peak on the Island

Spend a night on the ridge ...

How about waking up on the ridge to a Hebridean sunrise? A night on the ridge is a stunning experience and saves the legs two days of ascent ...

Boat trip to Loch Coruisk, climb the Dubh Slabs onto Sgurr Dubh Mor, Bivi overnight on the ridge. Day 2 Traverse of some of the ridge to Sgurr Alasdair and the Inn Pin.

The full ridge traverse

This is the ultimate Cullin experience completing all 11km and over 20 individual peaks this is a ‘full on’ experience.

A 4 day trip will be required for the traverse, with 2 days and 1 night on the ridge traverse. For the best chance of success clients should be very fit and have had previous experience of Skye or steep rocky ground. For those interested in the traverse please contact the centre to discuss the options.
