Bikeability Camp - Age 11-15yrs
Cycling is a cheap, healthy, efficient, environmentally-friendly and fun mode of transport. Bikeability Scotland is a cycle training scheme designed to give children the skills and confidence they need both to cycle safely on the roads, and to encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood. This camp will provide a fun and cultural way of learning vital and important bike road safety skills.
This is a 3 day camp which will run from 9 am to 12 Noon, Mon to Wed, from Ancrum Outdoor Centre, Dundee, renowned as Scotland's best non residential Adventure Activity Centre and run by Leisure and Culture Dundee in partnership with Dundee City Council.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people aged 11-15 years to attend a local bike skills camp.
During the first 2 days, young people will learn all the key biking skills at Lochee park and Balgay Hill under the expert tuition of our Bikeability coaches. On day 3, young riders will progress on designated quiet nearby roadways/ junctions to learn the skills they need on a road. During these days, the coaches will support the kids to go through the Level 1 and 2 syllabus of the Nationally recognised Bikeability qualification scheme and will be awarded certificates if they are able to demonstrate these newly acquired skills.
- If your child owns their own bike and helmet and they are up to standard, please bring along on the day.
- if your child doesn't own a bike and helmet, or they have a bike that isn't up to standard, we will provide them with bike and helmet for the 3 days at no cost.
All we ask is for them to bring a sense of adventure and a willingness to learn to cycle under expert guidance.
Please note that lunch, snacks and refreshments will NOT be provided so please ensure your child brings plenty to drink.
To be gained:
- Level 1 Bikeability Certificate
- Level 2 Bikeability
