Blokarting
This is sometimes called land yachting, using a vehicle that is llike a go-cart with a sail as a means to provide the propulsion. This activity takes place on local beaches and parks.

Elie Chain Walk
This is an ancient route along the bottom of the cliffs at Elie in Fife and is part of the Fife Coastal Path. This activity involves rough walking and scrambling up and down the rocky coastline using chains and foot holds cut into the rocks.

Arbroath  Sea Caves
A walking visit to the dry sea caves, near Arbroath. We will walk along stone beaches and explore some caves, some which are pitch black. We'll also have a look in the rock pools and try and find sea creatures such as whelks, sea anemones, limpets and crabs.

Climbing Activities
This can take place either outdoors or at special indoor climbing walls and either be bouldering (close to the ground, no ropes) or roped climbing where a climber is protected by safety systems. Young people are given a harness, special boots and a helmet. Abseiling is the part of climbing where young people can lower themselves down a rock face.

Kite Flying
This is done at local parks or large open spaces. Young people can start off with a small wing shaped kite and once they have mastered the basics can graduate uo tp larger "power" kites. The use of these kites is dependant on wind conditions and ability level.

Mountain Biking
This involves off-road cycling on a Mountain Bike. We ride along tracks and trails and sometimes short sections on the road. The trails can involve small drops, jumps and natural or man-made features, and can sometimes get a little muddy.

Orienteering
This involves running through the forest with a map looking for markers that can be difficult to find. It usually takes place in a confined area such as a country park. No special equipment is needed, although you do get muddy sometimes.

Problem Solving / Team Building
Young people get the opportunity to use ropes, crates etc. to solve complex problems in teams or as individuals.

Hill Walk / Adventure Walk
This activity gives you the chance to climb a local hill, getting good views from the top. You may be able to pick your routes and also explore a local castle where Braveheart was filmed. Or climb along a rock stream go behind a waterfall and still get a good view.

Bush Craft 
A chance to try your hand at surviving in the wild. You will be taken to woodland and shown ways to build a shelter then you can build your own. There's an opportunity to light a fire or use a stove to cook a hot drink or even lunch.

Archery
Either shooting targets in our exclusive indoor range, or you may get to shoot arrows outside and even play archery golf!

From hunting for treasure using metal detectors, to building sea defences to keep the tide back, and of course maybe a wee paddle too!

Rock Weaselling
Under and over, in and out, find your way through a giant rock garden!  With some large dark tunnels and some small gaps, an opportunity to get close to nature!

Slack Line
Your chance to walk a tight rope, set-up by your instructor who will give you top tips and handy hints to get you walking along a tight rope.

Tyrolean
Work with your instructor to build your very own 'zip slide' across a river or over an embankment. With a helmet on, harness yourself in to the safety lines and cross over on your 'tight ropes'. Different venues are used, with some you'll be dangling inches above the water, several meters above an embankment or even over the sea.

Geocaching
Using a GPS (Global Positioning System) to help you find your way, go and find the markers buried and hidden in the woods and on the hillside.

Summer Activities

Description

Coasteering
This activity involves a journey round a rocky coastline with your guide, in the place 'where the water meets the rock' you will journey by wading, swimming, walking, climbing and jumping from height into the water. This activity provides a different view of our coast as well as being a very exciting experience.

Kayaking / Canoeing
These similar activities involve paddling a single of two person boat on rivers, Lochs, or on the sea.  A kayak is a single seat and a canoe involves two or three people working together in the same boat.

Rafting
This is a journey activity which involves the use of specialist inflatable rafts which are paddled by the young people on a fast flowing river. During this activity they must contribute as a team member both on and off the water. The location used depends on the weather, the group, and the water level.

Construct your own floating raft and then test it out!  Be the first team to make it out to the island and back without your craft falling apart!

Winter Activities

Skiing (Cross Country and Downhill)
Cross country skis allow you to travel uphill as well as down. We can ski on our own dry ski slope at the Centre or on snow at one of the ski areas.

Igloo Building / Snow-shoeing / Sledging
If we have enough snow, all the above are possible. You can construct and get inside your own igloo, sledging down a hill, or walk across the snow and not sink using snow shoes!

It's boarding time!  Whether it's snowing on the hils or sunshine on the dry slope, this is your chance to try this fantastic snow sport.

All activities are supervised by an Experienced and Qualified Instructor.

All specialist safety equipment is provided. Wetsuits, waterproofs and other protective clothing are provided where necessary.
